Do you ever get confused about what day it is?

Oh, once in a while, I have moments when I think things like--is it Tuesday or Wednesday? I keep a running list of appointments each week and plan accordingly, but still...sometimes, it's hard when I get busy, and/or when the son gets the days and nights a bit mixed up due to not sleeping. So here we are...a confused day.
We needed to go to the Social Security office, which is of course always a very busy place. We went yesterday, and the line was out the door-I counted over 50 people. A lady was coming out the door as we were realizing how long the wait would be, and she said they told her and some others that they would not be able to see everyone that day, to come back another day. We then planned on going today (Friday) in the morning. That didn't work out either.
Son has an appointment later today for a double iron infusion and a transfusion. This will take about 4 hours. We were planning to make two trips, one for the Social Security, and another for his long appointment. I couldn't remember what time the SS office opened for sure, went online to look it up. Um, they are closed today. Good thing I looked!
We totally forgot about Juneteenth Day. I was reminded by AI via google--''On Juneteenth, closures primarily affect government agencies, financial institutions, and postal services. Because it is a federal holiday, most routine services are suspended, while private businesses and retailers generally operate under normal business hours.'' I really am very glad I looked to see what time they open. It would have been a completely wasted trip.
For those who don't know or maybe have forgotten, this is the description of what Juneteenth Day is:
''Juneteenth (a blend of "June" and "Nineteenth") is an annual holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It marks the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that the Civil War had ended and all enslaved people were free.'' I know many do not care or do not think it's necessary to celebrate the emancipation, but I personally do. Slavery is wrong, and to end it in a country is high priority. President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. Long story involved there, but Texas signed it into law in 1979. It was not signed into federal law until 2021.
I knew about this special day, but for some reason I thought it was tomorrow. That will teach me to pay more attention to both the current dates AND what day it is. Sometimes, time becomes a blur of activities and too much to do, I think that is why we forget.

Is there another SS office you could visit that might not be as swamped? I know unfortunately, they have closed alot of them.

No, we used to have more than one. But they moved it to a bigger building, and we just have the one...A trip to one in another county would be possible, but it would involve yet approximately an additional 50-75 mile round trip...and time and hauling around a fellow that doesn't feel very well. Plus, when I got there, it may well be the same wait times as this one. We are going to try to go on Tuesday morning early--we know from past experience that a person never, ever wants to go there on a Monday.

Thank you, Judy. I am grateful he is so upbeat about his medical treatments. It's been a tough week, so I am hoping this weekend he can get some good rest.
