What do people get wrong about your country?

I was watching videos of Europeans experiencing America for the first time at the World Cup, not clips from the news, but real videos from attendees. One guy said if you go by European news you’d think if you came to America you’d die in a gun battle. He found America to be a beautiful country with friendly people.
There are plenty of people on Mylot who take any opportunity to bash America, and some have never set foot here. All they know is what they see on the news. And we know the news judges us all by our President. Strangely, they (people here who like to comment) ignore all the responsibilities of the problems in their own countries.
Which made me wonder, what do people get wrong about your country? And, by the way, if you want to bash other countries, find someone else’s discussion to do that in. There will be plenty from which to choose.

They think the "Country" is the same as staying in a resort is the same. I recommend people travel if its safe within the country instead of staying in a hotel for days doing the same pool, beach, bar routine

We get it all of the time.
Comments like I didn't know that it got hot in Canada......or the flipside to that, why don't you put out your wildfires, they stink.
I love the way that people from other parts of the world are coming together to watch the matches, and get first hand views of what the host countries are like.

@AmbiePam I've had alot of practice, even my own cousins who just live south of the border in Michigan would talk about igloos. We used to tease them too about things, so it was all in fun. On the site, I just try to remember that our country is vast and has different climates, and so do others, and they don't know unless they ask. At least people are open enough and confident to ask.

I have come to ralize there is probably no actual safe country to run to these days. My thoughts are if I coudl get groceries, electricity, water, and Internet I could easily live on an island surrounded by animals, I can just see us al becomign friends and on New Year's tooting horns together,

Oh my, I haven't seen anyone bash America, here! Facebook is another matter, of course. I always read about how surprised foreign visitors are by how well (most) everyone obeys traffic rules and how big our grocery stores are.
