I have many friends. Most of them are my close friends.
I often wonder why we are such close friends. We are of different natures.
I love jungles and wild animals and birds whereas my friends say I'm childish.
I love reading and writing, but they have no interest in reading and writing. They even never go to bookstores, let alone buying books.
They spend most of their time in playing mobile games. I never play mobile games.
We are different by nature, yet we are close friends.
I often ask myself if having different choices has nothing to do with being close friends.
What do you say??

Thank you. You must have read or heard the
famous adage, " Birds of the same feathers flock together."
I think there must be some choices or interests that we share. We don't even have a single.
That's why I asked the question to myself.

Friendships do tend to be based on shared interests and experiences. Have you known them long? If they are old friends from when you were younger, maybe your childhood, then there is a tendency to keep up the friendship even though your interests and activities diverge. As an adult though it's much more difficult to strike up a friendship with someone with whom you have absolutely nothing in common.

Thank you. Yes, we have been close friends since when we were in primary schools. May be at that time we had not developed interests, but our families were in close relations with each other. Our families were respected and we were loved in our families.
I think there must be something other than shared interests and experiences that make us close friends to each other. I don't know what it is.

I think mutual respect is what friendships are based on in general, and you definitely don’t have to like the same things. I do have to say if your friends are so interested in playing mobile games it sounds like they are more into childish things than you.

I do know that people can be good friends and be very different in their likes and dislikes. It would bother me if a friend said I was childish, for liking nature, jungles, animals, and birds. It sounds to me like you are the mature one of this bunch. If the only thing they do in their spare time is play online, that's rather sad.
