Taking photos of my bike leaning on stuff is my thing. I rarely bother with selfies, it’s all about the bike.
This is an old photo, of the bike I used to own back when I was on myLot before. It’s a Trek Fuel Ex-7, a full suspension mountain bike that I used to ride all over Colorado Springs.
This photo was taken in Colorado Springs; I was living in Manitou Springs, and I remember I was riding home from an appointment at the VA. That’s Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak in the background.
Trek is an American bike company based in Waterloo, Wisconsin. They have been making bicycles since 1976. Not only do a few professional cycling teams use their bikes, but they also are the main co-sponsor of the powerhouse Lidl-Trek team, which you will see in the upcoming Tour de France.
Garden of the Gods covers 1,341 acres, known for its red rock formations. It’s a very pleasant drive through the park, but activities include cycling, hiking (21 miles of trails,) and rock climbing. In the summer, one Wednesday a month, they close the park to traffic for a couple hours, allowing cyclists, in-line skaters, runners, walkers, etc, a free, safe experience. It was designated a national landmark in 1971.
Pikes Peak, known affectionately as “America’s Mountain,” looms mightily over Colorado Springs. Katherine Lee Bates wrote “America the Beautiful” after standing atop the peak in 1893. It is one of Colorado’s “14’ers,” (at least 14,000 feet in elevation,) and is a major hiking destination. The mountain is also the site of the world famous Pikes Peak Hill Climb auto race, and the Pikes Peak Marathon, where competitors run from Downtown Manitou to the summit and back.

I loved that bike. Unfortunately, I sold it a few years ago. I have a different bike now.

I got spoiled living in the Springs. I could go there anytime. I haven't been there since I moved back to Denver.

It's one of my favorites of what I've taken. Thanks!
