Going to Have To Start Wearing My Eyeglasses

I got eyeglasses just shy of a year ago. I gave it a try. But they made me motion sick and dizzy every time I tried to wear them. They have long-distance at the top and short-distance at the bottom. I think they're called progressive lenses (bifocals). Anyway, fast forward to this year and I can barely see anything anymore. I keep "cheater readers" around all the time for using my computer, phone, iPad, etc. But today I walked out without my "cheater readers" and I couldn't even see the food on my plate at the restaurant. So I have my prescription eyeglasses on now trying to make myself get used to them. I see the eye doctor at the end of July so we'll see if my vision has gotten worse. Do you wear eyeglasses? Progressive lenses? How did you get used to them?

Can you get them without the “progressive lenses”? I had those and they made me sick, too. I told the doctor it was like walking into the villian’s room in Batman (it was always at an angle), AND it was moving. I ditched those things too quickly to talk about and got regular bifocals.

@LooeyVille — yes, and getting used to that line is a lot easier and less nauseating than the progressive lenses!

Oh, so I'd still have the ability to see far and near but just have lines in the glasses? That sounds good. I will ask about that. Thanks for letting me know. I didn't know that.

@FourWalls You are a genius! I told hubby what you said and he found his old pair of lined bifocals that he doesn't wear and now I'm wearing them and they're not making me sick at all. OMG!

I’ll need reading glasses one day, but for now my permanent contacts are holding up okay.

What's a permanent contact? They implanted them in eyes?

@looeyville I staggered up the street like a drunk when I left the opticians wearing them first time. In a few days all was good.

So it just takes some patience and some practice?
