Yeah, yeah, it’s no surprise. I’ve mentioned a few million times before that this is my favorite Beatles song, and nothing has changed. So, to close out this monthlong celebration of Sir Paul McCartney’s 84th birthday, here’s my favorite song that he did. #1: For No One (Beatles) Alan Civil was a respected French horn player with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the 50s and 60s. Everyone in the rock and roll world knows him for his solo on this song. Meanwhile, hillbilly here was a terrible French horn player with the junior high school band in the 70s. That’s my connection to this song, or so I claim. It’s also an incredibly beautiful song. That solo, be it on a French horn or any other instrument, is amazing. There’s a video of Paul rehearsing the song in the studio, and he even sings the French horn part. As silly and simplistic as that is, it still sounds great. Paul had this entire thing in his mind, and the transfer to vinyl and recorded history was spectacular. Thanks for reading. I totally concur. It frustrates me that garbage like “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” is ranked above this album.

@FourWalls - Of course, it's not Paul, but "Tomorrow Never Knows" is my favorite Beatles song. At least a couple really good covers of that available, from The Mission and from Chameleons. The Mission even did it when I last saw them, which was a treat. I've never seen them do it before.

I love this song. It does have a very sad leaning, but it's true. ''A love that should have lasted years.''

And Paul wasn’t in a sad point in his life. This took some empathy.
