I Received a Really Strange Call Earlier Today

The phone rang earlier and the caller id said it was my Internet provider. It even showed their logo
I answered my phone and the person told me her name and that she was with my Internet provider and asked if I was (insert my name here). I know not to say “yes” to anybody on the phone, so I said, “I am”.
She said their system was showing that my Internet was down and asked me if my Internet was working. I said, “it is” and she said that was good and thanked me for my time. Then she hung up.
Wasn’t that a strange phone call?
I double checked the number that called me and it was legit.
What do you think that phone call was about?

@Ineeddentures numbers can be spoofed..And I have gotten scam calls from employees who are making calls instead of working. I even got a scam call from a pay phone once.

A scam from a legit number?
I never actually even considered that.
Now you have got me thinking

Not trying to worry you, but that's concerning....it doesn't seem like anything an internet provider would even do. People can spoof phone numbers and it looks like they are calling from one when they are not. I would call them or contact them and ask--do you do this, call people and ask this question?

That’s what I thought too. I still might call them. It was just so weird

I definitely would. Maybe ask for a supervisor when you call and ask them. It can't hurt.

I'm not sure but try to find out who it was from. If they call again, consider blocking them. I have a bad feeling that they are setting up some kind of scam. Don't answer unknown calls but let them go to voice mail or message. That is only my opinion.

I think it sounds honest enough to me.
The number was legit
Why don't you say yes to anyone on the phone?

Spammers record your voice saying “yes” and attach it to a fake conversation like you’re agreeing to a bill or a subscription or something

Oh right.
I must remember that.
And I must tell Yvonne that.
We wouldn't subscribe to anything anyway and if we get a call, and it's not a number on our contacts list, it gets declined.
So we don't ever speak to anyone lol that we don't know
