My quest is simple - take pictures of my bike leaning on as much cool stuff as I can find. Like I said, simple. This is Sun Spot. That’s my gravel bike, Agent Gravel, leaning on him. I have no idea how many times I rode past Spot before I finally stopped and took a photo. I also have no idea what took me so long. Now, I make sure to wave at him every time I ride by (he’s located on the South Platte River Trail in Denver, right outside the Denver Municipal Animal Shelter.) As you can see, Sun Spot is quite a large dog (25 feet tall!) He is made of round dog collar tags (over 90,000.) There is also a 6-foot dog collar, with chains hanging off. Each time a pet is adopted, the adoptee can have the pet’s name, and date of adoption, added to a tag on those chains. It is designed to hold 7,000 tags. All in all, a really cool piece of Public Art! Link is to a video I made. Sun Spot is in it!:

Yeah, he's huge. I've been wondering how much it cost just to get him there, since I'm assuming the artists didn't build him on the spot.

@Wrexxo - It had to. They probably hauled it in on a big truck. I'm sure he's really heavy, so I don't know if they had to use a crane or not. I probably shouldn't be putting this much mental effort into this.

My neighbor works at the shelter. He sometimes tells me about some of the animals they get in there. So I like the adoption tag feature.

That’s great art and a wonderful idea! Cool ride, too. Your bike paths look so clean and maintained.

They do a good job clearing them after storms and stuff. Denver's bike path system is a pretty good one. Colorado Springs, they have some catching up to do.

@teamfreak16 Is it illegal there or legal in some areas?

@JudyEv - I'm not sure. I don't think these artists are illegal, they don't seem to be in any hurry when we see them. But they keep adding more every year, so if they are illegal, they are persistent about it!

There are a lot of murals along that particular bike path. Sometimes when we are riding, the artists are out there painting more as we ride past!
