Lemonade and pizza on a hot day

Nothing ends a hot day like my husband bringing us all home a strawberry lemonade from Wendy's on his way home from his second job (actually his first job, but he works there second). It's been so hot, and a nice cool drink really helps. My normal go-to drink from Wendy's is a Dave's orange cream soda, but strawberry lemonade sounded more refreshing today. My husband works at Wendy's, so he gets a discount, so we thankfully don't pay full price for it. Depending on who is working, sometimes he'll get it for free. It's been a hot day, and I've been super lazy today because there is only one really cool room in our house right now, so I've been chilling in here doing nothing. I know tomorrow I need to go back to cooking despite the heat, but it should be an easier dinner, just some nuggets and tots. I'm not doing anything time-consuming. I have been really good about not ordering any food out and cooking most meals, but with the heat today, I didn't have it in me to stand in a kitchen without airflow, so we ordered some pizzas from Papa John's. My son ate an entire large pizza all by himself and was merely content, not full. Life with teenage boys is expensive. I'm glad I ordered two pizzas. I still have leftover pizza in the fridge that I didn't eat. I told my son he could have it for lunch tomorrow. I normally make him ten nuggets when I do nuggets, but I'm starting to wonder if I should up it to 20 for him tomorrow, because holy cow.
Anyone else order takeout to avoid being in the kitchen in this heat?

I’ve been noticing on Facebook that a lot of people are complaining about the heat where they live. Even my sister in New York said the weather there has been warmer than usual. When I asked how hot it was, she told me 30°C. I just laughed and said that here, it can reach up to 46°C—30°C is basically the average daily temperature in my area.

@sissy15 I’ve experienced spring and autumn there, and I enjoy the mild weather, though it still feels too cold for me. I haven’t been there in winter, as my sister says I’d be bored staying at home all the time since snow limits outdoor activities.
In spring and autumn, the weather is calmer, and there’s plenty you can do outside.

It made it up to about 106 degrees Fahrenheit here today, which isn't exactly unusual for our summers, but this many in a row is unusual. Some of the southern states here get much hotter, but they also don't usually have the humid heat we get, except for Florida. I know it's not as warm as it gets there, but it would be kind of like you dealing with our winters lol. Hot is still hot. Quite frankly, I would prefer it to stay around 70 degrees Fahrenheit year-round.

My grandson can down alot of pizza too. I like Wendy's chili and the fact that they have baked potatoes on their menu.

I swear boys have a serious appetite, especially in their teen years. Wendy's does have good chili, and you can buy it in cans now at the grocery store. We sometimes buy them from Sam's in bulk. It makes for a quick dinner. My husband will, on occasion, bring me food from work. He will usually bring me whatever their new menu items are for me to try. I don't like bananas, but he brought my son the new banana Frosty. When they were doing the Wednesday meals, he would bring me their unhappy meal or meal of misfortune or whatever it was called, so I could try the sauces and the frosty. He told me they were supposed to bring back some of their old menu items for a limited time, one of which was their pub burger, which was my favorite menu item.

Yes, and yes they do. My child has always been able to eat a lot. We always knew he was sick when he didn't want to eat, but these teen years are really hitting us hard on the food budget. He is a tall, skinny kid; we always joke that he has a hollow leg.

My relatives ordered fast food from restaurants to avoid having to cook meals under this intense heat outside.

@sissy15 That is true since the heat and humidity force me to drink water and tea to avoid having a dry mouth.

@eLdav1s Our winters are pretty bad; we often go into the negatives (Fahrenheit). Our summers get pretty hot, and our spring and fall are somewhat decent, though when we actually get the typical weather for those seasons, sometimes it feels like we skip over them.

I rarely order takeouts though.
