Another Scorcher

It was 100 degrees F (38C) here yesterday, and it will be again today. Tomorrow it will be 99, which isn't any different. I looked at the 10-day forecast, and the temps were in the 90s every single day. The worst part is that it won't even cool down properly at night - Lows will still be in the 70s, with only one night at 69 degrees.
I went to my friend's house to watch TV yesterday, and the air-conditioning was nice, but when I left to go home, it was SOUPY outside. It was ten o'clock at night, but my car's outside temp reader said it was still 90 degrees. Oof!

@AliCanary Yeah, it's definitely a good idea for a cold shower.

I remember what it was like not to have AC in the heat. I had to take cold showers and sit in front of the fan with wet hair for relief!

I feel very sorry for the people in Europe who are dealing with the same temperatures. It's very unusual for them, so a lot (maybe most?) people don't have AC. It must be so hard to sleep.

10 degrees would make a huge difference! The 80s is hot, but at least if there's a breeze, it feels cool. When it's really hot, it just feels like an oven fan!

I was gratified to see next week there were several temp readings in the 80's

I hope it gets cooler. 80s is hot, but fine for July. 90s starts to get scary!

@AliCanary In summer on the family farm, we'd move all the beds out onto the verandahs for the summer. It was cooler than inside the house.

@JudyEv I lived in an old house (1920s) with no AC, but we had one of those huge whole-house fans, so we had that running in the attic at night with all our bedroom doors and windows open. It pulled a great breeze through the rooms.

Yes, there's nothing so miserable as being too hot to sleep.

I think we're in for low 90's today. No 100 yet.

Being at a higher elevation probably helps a little, doesn't it? Man, it must be BRUTAL in Arizona.

@AliCanary - I'm not sure if it does or not. The mountains are cooler at night, like jacket-in-August cooler, so there might be something to it.

THis whole air mass has been a total yuk. Looking forward to next week with several days in the 80's here. Richmond won't get below 90 but we will here in the boonies.

Yes, cities can be quite a heat trap because of all the concrete. I remember sweltering in Philadelphia! At least there is usually a good breeze.

It's terrible. It's going to be 100 again today, with a possibility of some rain in the evening. Not great for fireworks, but maybe it will break this heat down a bit.

It does! It's actually been dryer than normal this year, so the mugginess was an awful reminder.

I'm glad it's cooled down! We're kind of used to it where I am, but I know it's very unusual for you.
