It has been a bit. My life has been pretty rough lately. 2026 has really been kicking my butt. I've had a lot happen in just the past month or two, none of it really good. It's been a struggle, but I keep going somehow. I will eventually be ok, but I'm still processing a lot of stuff.
My husband just got out of the hospital yesterday after a couple of days in the ICU, where he suffered from ICU psychosis. He was having a panic attack loop where he was seeing hallucinations and was genuinely freaking out, but it stopped once they moved him to the step-down unit. He was released the next day. He was in there for several medical reasons that he's working on getting under control. It has been rough lately. He's been in the ER a lot this month, so I already know our hospital bills are going to be high even after insurance covers its portion.
My husband got out yesterday, and then this morning, I got a call from my brother that my dad was at the store having chest pains. My brother lives a little ways away, and I'm about five minutes from him by car, so we rushed to the store. I don't know why my dad didn't call 911, but he didn't. We called when we got there. We followed the EMS to the emergency room. Thankfully, he wasn't having a heart attack, but he is having some other issues that we think might be medication-related. He was able to drive his van back home. We drove him back to his van, and he drove it home. My dad was grateful we showed up, especially since my husband was just released from the hospital.
If it tells you anything, everyone at the ER recognized my husband and was asking how he was doing and telling him he looked a lot better. He immediately was like, "Don't worry, it's not me this time, guys". It reminded me of the episode of Home Improvement where Tim goes into the ER, and everyone knows him and has his hospital bed waiting for him.
I personally would just like a little break between situations. These are just two in the past several weeks. 2026 has been full of moments like this. I know things could be worse, and I'm grateful they aren't, at least not currently, but it has been a very scary ride this year. It's just been a build-up of situations exactly like these ones. I'm mentally exhausted. We have been dealing with things that come our way to the best of our ability. I would like for life to start handing us a break in between right now, though. Maybe a few years at least between major events.
I'm trying to focus on the good and find laughter where I can, like the way everyone in the ER knew my husband. My husband has had a rough past few months. Here's hoping he's finally got it all together and can officially be on the mend. It's been a scary few months. I just want to be able to breathe a little now. I'm grateful my dad was able to go home today. I made sure he got home safely. He didn't want us following him, but I told him to make sure he called me when he got into his apartment. My dad is stubborn and wants to keep his independence. He hates when we have to come and help him, but I tell him that's what we are here for. My dad kept telling me we could leave the ER and he'd call us when he was done, but I told him no, I needed to know what was going on, and I knew my dad wouldn't remember everything. I then updated my brother, who is working on getting my dad a nurse to come in and help him with medication and things. I'm hoping things finally start to calm down, but with my luck, I'm not sure that will be the case. I especially hate thinking about the medical bills. We make too much to qualify for any sort of help, and while we have insurance, 20 percent of a big bill is still a big bill.
Well, that's my update. I'll try to check in later. I'm hoping things will finally calm down, but I'm not counting on it since my husband is still getting used to his medications and having some episodes, which we were told are normal, but it's still scary. His body will be adjusting to medication for a bit. He's on several new ones, so it's going to be a minute before things start to look normal. If I could wake up from sleep and not get bad news for a change, that would be great. I was awoken Tuesday morning by my husband in a panic because he had collapsed at work and was taken to the hospital via EMS. He was there from Tuesday up until Friday, when he was released. As I said, it has been a rough week.

It’s tough having two close loved ones facing health issues at the same time. Having a husband rushed to the ER and admitted to the ICU is already alarming, and knowing your father is also unwell and experiencing chest pains adds even more concern. Hopefully, things are going well for you despite all these events happening at once. Just try to stay grounded through it all, and trust that this storm will eventually pass, bringing you some peace.

Thank you, yeah, it's been an exhausting several months, and this past week in particular was rough. My husband has had a lot of medical issues for a while, and I've been trying to get him to go and get them taken care of, and he didn't, so here we are. This was his wake-up call, or at least I hope it was. He's scared, but he's stubborn, so some things are going to take a bit. He thinks he should just be able to jump up and go back to normal, but it's not like that, and it's frustrating for him. He has always been someone who has to be doing something, and he's not good at relaxing. The only way he relaxes is by sleeping; otherwise, he has to be up and moving. Just sitting and watching TV isn't something he is good at. Things aren't where he wants them to be, and he gets dizzy spells and starts to panic, and I keep reminding him he's on new medications and it's not going to be an instant fix. It's going to take months and trial and error and talking with his doctor, but he'll eventually be ok. He is struggling to believe that right now.
My dad really needs someone to help him with medication. He's tough and hates having to rely on anyone, so it's been difficult for him. He's always been the one to help and hates being the one who has to be helped. I'm hoping my brother is able to work on getting a nurse in. He really should have someone who helps him clean his apartment, too. My dad wants us to do it, but we have already done it once, and it got messy again quickly, and we don't have the kind of time or energy to keep going over and cleaning it. I'm unsure if they have anyone who can help with that or not through his insurance. He's still able to do a lot for himself, but he still needs some assistance.
