Triple Bypass 2026

Well, I certainly had a productive day!
I was in the mountains all day yesterday, so I slept all day today.
I was in the mountains all day, not for sight-seeing purposes (I’ve already seen everything we saw,) but because there was a big bike ride yesterday here in Colorado - the annual Triple Bypass ride. It’s 118-miles over three mountain passes, over 10,000 feet of climbing. I didn’t ride yesterday - I tried it in 2024 and did not finish. But yesterday, we had 6 riders representing Project Hero, and I went up with our mechanic in support of our riders.
Of our six, five did the Double Bypass option (climbing Loveland and Vail passes,) and one did the entire triple. Most importantly - everyone finished! That’s huge for us. In 2024, at least three of us abandoned and shuttled into the finish at some point during the ride. Triple Bypass is kind of an all-or-nothing thing, you can either do it or you can’t. I couldn’t. So having everyone finish is an epic milestone for the team!
By the way, one of our guys is training for a big, upcoming triathlon in Michigan. He went for a run after he finished the ride!
If I was exhausted-enough to sleep all day, one can only imagine how they slept!
I’m not able to post a photo, but the link is to a video a guy made with a 360 degree camera that will give you a feel for the event. I’ve climbed (not on the same day) the first (Juniper) and last (Vail) passes, and his descriptions of the climbs are accurate:

The 360 point of view threw me off at times, but it gives a good feel for the event.

I needed asthma medicine just watching that.
That’s a cool thing. Send your triathlon guy to Louisville, we have an Ironman here…and the hills here are NOTHING compared to that elevation gain!

Yeah, it's an ultimate ride. Like I said, when I tried it I made the first climb and descent. I abandoned at the first main rest stop where I could catch the sag.

@teamfreak16 I would be needing time to forget the pain before being able to look forward to doing it again!!

@JudyEv - While we were giving them a ride back to their cars, they were asking when the next event is.
They're strong riders!
