One of the dishes me and my sister were looking forward to trying during the trip to Thailand was the famous Thai papaya salad, also known as Som Tam. It is made with shredded green papaya, tomatoes, long beans, peanuts, and a flavorful dressing of lime juice, fish sauce, chili, and palm sugar. The combination of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavors creates a refreshing dish that really wakes up your taste buds. Every bite was crisp, fresh, and full of flavor. I can understand why this simple salad is so popular with both locals and tourists. It pairs perfectly with grilled meats or sticky rice, but I also enjoyed it on its own. The spice level was usually stronger ao we requested the restaurant to have it adjusted to minimum. Trying Thai papaya salad gave me another reason to appreciate Thailand's amazing cuisine, and I would happily order it again if I ever return.

My husband loves Thai cuisine, I have to be careful because they often use peanuts and I am allergic.

It looks interesting to try, and I wonder if they’re available locally. I’m not a big fan of Thai food because of its spiciness, but I can handle it as long as they don’t use too many chilies, and I can still enjoy it. I love pad Thai, but I haven’t tried their salads yet.

@rakski Oh good that you can request that. I thought they are really in Thai food being naturally spicy.
