She made an offer in May for less than the asking price that the seller accepted. They were supposed to close on June 19, but the seller failed to disclose some items, so closing had to be postponed. They finally closed on the 16th of July. They have begun doing the work needed to move in as of today, Saturday the 18th. The appliances needed were delivered this morning. They also took things that were already packed with them that we could live without until we move. They need to frame out my room and remodel my bathroom to accommodate my mobility issues. Other things they want to do will be done after moving in. There are four bedrooms plus extra living space behind the garage, which is where my room will be, plus a country kitchen, dining room and living room. One full bathroom is already in my area. Another full bathroom is upstairs. The fourth bedroom is on the first floor. There is a full-sized above-ground pool plus nearly two acres of wooded land. The cats will stay in my part of the house because one of the dogs will kill them if he catches them. That'll be easy to do because my section has a separate entrance of the porch. There's a really nice deck out back.We will be in one of the most rural parts of southern New Jersey. Lots of farmers around us. She's very pleased that she was able to buy the house. No more unethical landlords!d us. But, we will also be less than 10 miles from the nuclear plant, so emergency sirens are everywhere just in case. They test the sirens once each month.

Congrats to your daughter! I hope everything else goes smoothly for you all. There are tornado sirens all over our city but, if we're asleep, we never hear the sirens going off. *shrug* We don't worry about it. Tornados swing around our city.

Radiation doesn't swing. LOL But as long as we can drive, we should have time to get clear. Just added a photo that wouldn't add yesterday.

@jerzgirl Oh, wow! That's a beautiful log cabin style house. There's one that looks just like it about 7 miles outside of Aurora, where I live. One of my high school friends parents had it built back in the 1980s. True about driving away from radiation but, if others are also trying to drive away from it, how fast will you be able to drive on crowded highways?

Oh, that is so exciting! Congratulations! It’s always nice not to have to depend on others to have a livable space.

Congratulations to her! I put the offer in on my house on my 29th birthday. Thirty seven years later, I’m still here!

I can understand the joy of owning your own house and living in it. After struggling for 10 years I have built a house for my family and myself. I feel the confidence and peace it gives. I will retire from my job soon and I can move into my house.

Congratulations! This is the best thing that came from her breaking every bone in her foot three years ago. The lawsuit against the property owner paid for all her medical leaving enough to buy a second car and put a down payment on a home. She figured she might not have another opportunity like this. I just posted the photo of the house.
