You Couldn’t Pay Me Enough Money to Live in Minnesota

United States

Just recently I shared with you how Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was pardoning illegal immigrants who had raped minors and killed women Now this 82 year old woman who appears to have a drinking problem filled a lawsuit in Minnesota because the nursing home where she lived didn’t serve alcohol or have a happy hour. Residents were allowed to drink their own alcohol in their own rooms but weren’t supposed to share alcohol with other patients. Likewise the nursing home didn’t have a liquor license to serve alcohol The senior citizen argued that nursing home residents should have the same freedoms as everyone else She won the lawsuit and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz came and had a drink with her Doesn’t this just defy logic? Should sick old people be drinking alcohol along with all the medications they take and risk stumbling and falling? This sounds ridiculous to me

Minnesota has always been really liberal. It’s not a place for me.

I would never live in Minnesota because of the cold! The parts of it I’ve been in are very beautiful, though.

Whether in Minnesota or any other place senior citizens have the same rights as anyone else. Does that mean I think they should be drinking, "NO". I also agree that residents should not share their drinks, or their food, or their treats with other residents, due to complications you mention of medicine interactions. I have worked in nursing homes where doctors actually prescribe certain drinks in moderation for their residents, and it bothered me, and nursing homes where they have denied a resident coffee, because they said it gave him diarrhea. I get on my high horse a little bit about patient rights. My daughter and her family live in Minnesota, but never talk about politics. They are very conservative.

Luckily you don't have to. The people in Minnesota seem happy enough as far as I know.

Well maybe there are some nursing home residents who do not need medication ? Quite possible....

Minnesota is pretty, but it has lots of mosquitoes in the Summer. And it gets quite cold in Winter.
