That was much easier than he made out!

My partner seems to have developed a propensity to get unnecessarily stressed and over-react over fairly minor things. Our lodgers, Paola and Antonio, like to do the washing up by squirting a blob of washing-up liquid onto the sponge, wiping over the dampened dishes, then rinsing them all afterwards. This seems to use more washing-up liquid than just squirting some into water in the bowl.
At the weekend he was going on about how the level of washing-up liquid in the bottle seemed to have gone down a couple of inches in no time, and at this rate we would have to charge them more rent. Well seriously, washing-up liquid is not that expensive!
I told him there was a much simpler solution; next time one of them said ‘I’m going to the shops, is there anything you need?’ we could simply say ‘Washing-up liquid please’ and that would be that.
As it turned out I didn’t even have to do that. We have friends staying for a few days and yesterday one of them was washing the dishes when Paola said she was going out and did we need anything, and before I could even open my mouth our friend, who had noticed there was hardly anything left in the bottle, replied ‘Washing-up liquid please!’
Problem solved

I think being eco conscious might have had the rare bad side effect on a person.
That does seem to be a minor thing to get upset about, but maybe he’s still getting over the preciousness of keeping windows closed so as not to let in imaginary spiders. Meanwhile, everybody gets familiar with the sensation of being in a frying pan.

I told Pretty she was separating her clothing wrong in the laundry baskets so she started doing her laundry herself. 2 people like this

I'm glad that problem was solved easily enough. 1 person likes this
