Well, here we are! Colonoscopy day! If my comments and replies are loopy this afternoon, just consider the source: I’ll be knocked out in a couple of hours, so I’ll be crazier than normal.
Meanwhile, as I scoot out the door toward the hospital I’ll leave you with this jukebox song that’ll definitely make @TheHorse happy.
#9: Spanish Pipedream - John Prine
Gee, he never says “Spanish” or “pipedream” in the song, so what’s with the title? Who cares, this is a great song. Actually, John Prine told Bobby Bare on Bare’s Bobby Bare and Friends, “It was a romantic idea, and I always thought that Spanish stuff was romantic. I should have just called it ‘Blow Up Your TV.’”
Yeah, well….
Prine was so good at making you laugh (“I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve”) while driving a point home. In this song, that’s now 55 years old, he provided the cure for the anxiety we have from the news: “blow up your TV, throw away your papers.”
I’m fully aware of the fact that tastes in music are among the most individual tastes that we have; however, Prine’s debut album is one I’d recommend to just about anyone.

I hope everything goes well for you today. I have to take Pretty to the hospital for her colonoscopy tomorrow morning and wait there for her until she's done or they won't do it. I've loaded twenty new ebooks on my phone and will have my battery charger with me so I should be good. (I'll be exhausted since I normally sleep during the daytime but I can sleep when we're both home again.) I'll take a bag with water and a soda with me and something to munch on while I'm there, in case I get hungry.

Hopefully it won’t be that long. My doctor was running late and I was still home in about four hours.

@FourWalls I hope hers goes that quickly, too.
How are you feeling now? Good enough you don't need me to come take care of you the rest of the afternoon/evening?

"Blow up Your TV." Not to be confused with Ned's Atomic Dustbin's "Kill Your Television."

Or as Talking Heads started the song “Found a Job,” “Damn that television.”

@FourWalls - Then again, on the other side of the argument, as The Tubes sang, "T.V. is King."

Well at least you can “plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches” even if you don’t know the song!

Prine was good at that, frequently very tongue-in-cheek wise.
