Explain this …..my Rosemary has turned into oregano !

I have tried to grow from cuttings …they didn’t work either . Maybe I am just not destined to grow the blooming stuff !

@Traceyjayne - That is weird. I never failed from cuttings. Take 4-6 inch cuttings from the soft tips of the plant and remove the lower leaves. Place in water until roots develop, which can take 2 to 4 weeks. Keep the cuttings in a bright, indirect light and change the water regularly.

@LadyDuck …im just not supposed to grow Rosemary I guess ….i have done all that and so has my Mom, who is an excellent gardener …never works …

@Traceyjayne Parsley prefers damper more shady places. It's biennial so it should regrow next year but then you have to start again. Chives are not too fussy (if you stick the seed heads in the ground or in a pot you will get nice new clumps next year). Or you can save the seeds and use like onion seeds. Basil grows as an annual in this country and likes sun but it won't survive winter unless you put it in a pot and bring it inside. Thyme is evergreen and it likes a well-drained site but not too dry, and not wet in winter either; it should keep going for years if it likes its spot. Rosemary similar to thyme and it makes a good hedge! Oregano just grows absolutely everywhere, at least in my garden... in the flowerbeds, in the lawn, in the path... Very easy to dry it, just cut bunches and hang it upside down until dry, then crumble into a jar. Sage makes a big low-growing perennial evergreen bush. I have to cut mine back every year so I can actually get to the door! There's really no reason to harvest and store any thyme, rosemary or sage once you have mature plants because they will be available fresh all year round, although you can dry some if you want. You can freeze chives or parsley and that works better than drying I think. Basil is tastiest if you just make a lot of pesto! Then if you're worried about it keeping you can freeze it that way as little cubes in an ice cube tray.

@Fleura Yes, I guess that’s it …I obviously wasn’t as careful as I should have been ….. I have tried growing Rosemary from cuttings , but they never took either ! Do you think I should keep the Oregano in a pot by itself ? I was going to put several herbs together, but if it takes over that might not be the best idea. I know you know about these things ….. I have curly parsley, chives, basil, thyme, rosemary, oregano, sage What can I put with what ???
