Why Do Pet Owners Think They're Entitled To Bring Their Pets Inside Stores and Restaurants?

Dogs really don't enjoy riding around in a shopping cart while you shop in a store. Really, they don't.
Likewise, they don't enjoy sitting at your feet at a restaurant while you eat and don't feed them anything.
But pet owners, most particularly dog owners, seem to think they are entitled to take their pets anywhere they want any time they want.
Pet owners, particularly dog owners, have invented the term "emotional support animal" which is not an Americans with Disabilities Act recognized designation to make excuses for why they're pets should be exceptions and allowed anywhere they want.
So I liked a news story today by the rest stop Buccees where they are not allowing any animals in their stores unless they are true service dogs. They explain the difference on their signs. I like it!

@looeyville Restaurants are for HUMANS. England is terrible for this - dogs everywhere. Dogs, babies and the unwashed ought to stay at home.

I do have a question about cats. Cats are not allowed in stores (except pet stores) but they are allowed to roam free and poop wherever they want. This results in stepping in the poop of cats that neighbor’s don’t have to remove because once again, cats can roam free. Can someone explain that? I gladly remove any poop my dog excretes, but my neighbor is free of worry of where her cat poops.
I heard the French were really bad about pets being allowed in stores. I wouldn’t like that if I lived there.

It is likewise illegal to allow cats to roam free. That's just a sign of bad pet ownership.

It seems to me that most are owned by people not playing with a full deck with problems relating to mental health issues caused by COVID which to be frank I always thought we're just excuses to get PIP
