5 Hour Day

I got to my appointment right on time. BUT...I had to wait to get a seat. When I got one, the NEW nurse put in the pig tail into the Port. It is still tender, and it called for a LONG Needle. She explained it was still okay, that every doctor has their own way of doing them. Mine puts the Port as far to the shoulder as he can. Anyway, it hurt even though she sprayed it and made it cold. She took blood out, and I had to wait for the treatment until the blood tests were done. Like over an HOUR! Then they came and started the nausea medicines, and steroids..about 30-40 min a piece. She took her time getting the IV bags each time. I spent 5 hours there in that chair. My legs were numbish. But once I got up they started working. Gabby, my advocate, got them to give me appointments to get blood work done the day before treatments..so no more 5 hours! Next treatment is Aug. 4th and only a 2 hour treatment.. Then the next one is 4 hours. So far I feel a little sluggish, but not sick at my stomach. Hoping tomorrow I will feel well enough to go grocery shopping to get some quick meals for Tom, as I know I won't be able to eat anything but chicken noodle soup, crackers, and ice cream for a few days. I now know what I am up against, and want to be ready. I plan on winning this war with cancer! Had Bacon and Tomato sandwiches tonight.
