How would you react?

I don't feel comfortable with compliments. Much more so when people compliment me in comparison with my sister.
An elderly lady asked me yesterday how I was related to the "doc" and I answered, she's my sister. Then came the...
You look similar but...you are way much nicer to talk to. You are kinder...you explain things rather than shout unlike your sister who just gets mad right away.
My non-reposnse made her stop.
My sister and I are opposites but we balance things out at work. She maybe strict but that makes her efficient as a boss.

The woman yesterday should be speaking to your sister, and not comparing her with you

Sometimes they do speak to my sister and tell her I'm more beautiful.

@Ineeddentures My sister is fine with that. In fact when people would say we look alike, she would always respond and say I am the prettier one.

There was another woman who asked my sister who I was and when my sister told her, she said right at her face: oh she's more beautiful!
People can be really tactless here!
And what that woman told me yesterday? She wasn't the first one who said it. I've met too many of them already from the time I moved here in February.

I don't like being compared either.
But still I'm not comfortable with compliments, especially if it's about my physical appearance.
I like it when people say I have a nice bike.

A compliment with comparison, I dislike that.
I'm often complimented by my aunt and uncle but they end up comparing their daughter to me which I feel bad especially when my cousin is around.
My step sister and I are being complimented and compared too but we never take it to heart if the people who done is our close friends. If not, that would make us raise our eyebrows.
