Mother in law certainly has the capacity to come up with some outlandish tales fueled by her Alzheimer’s
It’s called confabulation. When they can’t come up with true memories to fill in the gaps, they just invent things. They’re not lying on purpose. They just try to make sense of the gaps
MIL started out crying this morning when the other son asked for her rings and watches but by afternoon had forgotten all about it. Last night she got upset about money but by today she’s forgotten all about it.
It’s a no-win situation for everyone
We’re going to start reducing her clothes this week. I can’t imagine that’s going to go over well.

Do they have any programs for the memory residents at the facility, or are they basically just in their room 24/7?

No that was just decided a few days ago. We haven’t been back there yet. We go once a week

Is she in her own home, or in a care facility? I fear I am a few chapters back in this story and haven't been around to see all the recent developments.

@LooeyVille ld of known that. I just haven't been around as much as I would like.
Does she still get around well in the facility? Like does she still participate in things they do?

Patience is the answer. Never neglect her. Though it's hard but it's possible.

I am sure that in her case and with her love of shopping and clothing, etc. that she places a lot of value on owning a lot of those things. (I still remember you describing what was in her old apartment, and the 50 something pink sweaters!) And of course, the clothing reduction won't go well, she will cry and carry on and then it will be something else...Alzheimer's is so cruel.
