Hulu/Disney+ dropped The Devil Wears Prada 2 recently, so I watched it the other night. I was rather excited since the first one was cute and I wondered what this new one had instore for us. To be honest I was pretty disappointed. I guess it did great at the box office and I'm happy for them but the story fell flat in my opinion. First off, it was the usual self-absorbed, demanding, and entitled Miranda and Emily. Andy was back to the Runaway but now as a features editor. Emily had gone on to Dior as an executive which I thought was great for her. But as far as character arches or anything going on character wise -- not much going on there. Miranda was almost non-verbal which I found odd. Andy had become more confidant, but it was Nigel (Miranda's right-hand man) and Emily that I saw make the biggest changes. He ended up having to do something he should have done years ago and, Emily had gotten over to Dior and an executive -- yeah, for her. Miranda and Andy became a bit chummy which I felt was a highlight. About the only thing interesting about the entire film was the few scenes Lady Gaga did. She obviously had some history with Miranda, and she did a great musical performance that was entertaining. The clothes were fun and Nigel was back helping Andy with her wardrobe. Not much new or interesting here.
