Sports are tough. They require toughness, both physically and mentally. An athlete can have all the talent in the world. If they aren’t mentally tough, they’re a JAG (Just a Guy/Girl.) It’s equally-important in cycling, when you’re out there busting it for hours a day. I bring up cycling in relation to toughness because, well, check this lady out!
Sigrid Haugset is a Norwegian professional cyclist riding for the Uno-X Mobility team. And what she did today was tough! Sigrid rode a solo 88 kilometer breakaway to victory on Stage 3 of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The only rider that tried to catch her, Belgian Lotte Kopecky, got within 10 seconds, only to finish second, 1:23” behind. That’s 88 kilometers with nobody to draft behind (which saves energy,) nobody to pace her, it was all Sigrid.
By the way, with that effort, she now leads the Tour de France Femmes.
Not tough-enough for you? How about this for mental fortitude: At the 2025 Paris-Roubaix Femmes, Sigrid Haugset crashed and broke her hip. She finished the race, coming in 71st place. On a course that has a ton of rough cobblestone sections. With a broken hip!
And now she finds herself in the Yellow Jersey!

It was very impressive. Although some might say finishing Paris-Roubaix with a broken hip might be more impressive.

That is amazing. I can't imagine doing anything with a broken hip.
