Breakdown Coming

I wrote this poem some years ago, and if life seemed bad then, today it is impossible. It is kind of scary how it all inspires. The sky so bright, sun on the wing, birds in the trees sing, then someone down the street, set off a bomb and you can feel the breakdown coming. Day quiet, nothing going on, off to do some shopping, a nut in the parking lot, shoots a couple and you just know that, breakdown is coming. Suddenly you want, to run and hide, nothing seems right anymore, you never know, if you will make it back home. How do you cope, in a world so full of strife, no one cares, no one understands, anger to the left, anger to the right, violence right in your hometown and you can just feel that, breakdown coming on. Where once children ran and played, some parks now deserted, mothers keeping children at home. Schools were great places, friends all about, but then in those days, friends didn’t shoot friends. Your neighbor smiles at you, you begin to wonder, what is behind that smile and you quickly shut the door. There is no cure, you cannot lock yourself in, best you can do is fill your heart with love, close your door upon the world, don’t turn the TV or radio on and save that breakdown, for another day. Remember the Rolling Stones “19th Nervous Breakdown”? Perhaps that was in my mind when I wrote this and how true it all has become.

I remember the song performed by the Rolling Stones song "19th Nervous Breakdown" which is a very good song.

A lot of life going on in that poem. Yes, I remember that song. Have felt that way too sometimes. So don't feel like the lone ranger. I am so grumpy in this heat. It drives me nuts. I will be so glad when fall hits.

@noni1959 that is one thing I always regretted about my poems I had no one to turn any of them into songs,

@jstory07 thank you and glad you liked my poem. So it is no wonder that my anxiety has greatly reduced since over two years ago I became a recluse. Everything in my world is familiar
