Thursday's Happenings

Today was my follow up with my doctor for the ultrasound I had the other day on my thyroid. My appointment wasn't until 3 pm and I was asked to be there at 2:45. I thought this would be a good time to catch lunch before my appointment. We have been wanting to go back to the little Italian restaurant in McComb that serves authentic Italian food all served fresh. They have lunch specials during the week, so we went there today. We left the house around 11 am. This place gets busy and is a bit slow on service, but worth the wait! It's delicious. I was disappointed to find out that lasagna was all sold out when we got there so opted for spaghetti and meatballs, which is my husband's favorite there. We both enjoyed our meal and left with plenty of time to head north to the next small town where my doctor is located. We got into one big thunderstorm where you could not see anything in front of you on the interstate. Despite that, we still made it to my appointment at around 1:10 pm and early. It was about to start a downpour there, so we opted to go inside and take our chances of getting in early or just sitting and staying dry in the waiting room. I managed to get called back early since they were just coming back from lunch and only one other patient there. I got a good report with minimal changes to the nodule being watched on my thyroid, so I am good for another year. I'll do another ultrasound then and follow up with the doctor again. We got out quickly and had time on our hands so we decided to make the flea market run that we had not been able to do earlier in the week. Got that done and walked around a little with my hubby looking and we headed out the door. My husband was hungry already and it was after 4 pm so we headed to a little town in Kentwood, LA that was about 40 minutes from the flea market to City Cafe. The owner of the flea market was there this afternoon and was talking about how good it was. I had heard good things about it also, so suggested we try it. Turns out we ran into the owner there, which was a bit funny. We both got seafood platters and have lunch for tomorrow with the leftovers. I have most of mine left because I wasn't really hungry so picked at mine. How was your day today? Did you do something fun? Photo Credit: My own (Seafood platter from another restaurant)

Girl, you just made me so hungry! It sounds absolutely scrumptious; all of it. If I could chew well I’d really want some. I’m also glad to hear your good report.

Your day sounds like it was good all the way around and certainly good news about the nodule not having any changes. All your food certainly got my mouth watering and I would have been disappointed too if the lasagna was sold out I love lasagna!!

What a relief that the growth hasn't changed any. It feels good to get that all clear from the doctor, I have a cancer recheck next month and I am on pins and needles until I literally hear him say, 'all clear' and then I practically skip out of the OR, which is where he does the scope and into the washroom across the hall to use it and get out of the hospital gown and into my own clothes. I always feel like I am walking on a cloud when I arrive in the hospital lobby to leave and walk out to the car-such a great and thankful feeling. Your plate looks like it is full of delicious food! Is that perch that I see?
