Fly paper isn't attracting the flies!

I came home early today and what greeted me?
About 6 flies hovering over the dining table and that just annoyed me.
Searched for any fly paper in the house oz we usually kept some and saw one in the kitchen.
Placed it where the flies were actually hovering and waited for them to get trapped.
They were indeed hovering over it. Landed on the edge which isn't the sticky part of the paper. So I kept praying they'll move a bit to the center but no.
Flies seemed too smart to get caught in this fly paper thingy.
The maids must have left the the screen in the sliding door open for too long.
Now I hear them buzzing near my ear! Ugh!

Yeah, we don't have the tone in the house right now. The flies aren't a regular visitor in our house anyway.
An update, three of them got trapped already! I keep moving the paper in different places though.

I use zevo for flying insects. It was working great all summer..but I have these tiny tiny little flying bugs in here at the moment that don't seem attracted to the Zevo. Oh well, it as the temps cool they will become less and less, probably not going to worry about them at this point.

6 flies got trapped finally. But I saw two more flying around when I was having dinner.

Wipe your table with soap and it will lessen the fly they hate the smell of the dishwashing soap.

Our maids always wipe our dining table with dishwashing soap. So how come the flies are still attracted to it?

I find sprays highly toxic so I don't use them.

I spoke too early. 6 of them got caught. But I saw two more flying while I was having dinner and they tried to land on my food.
