Talking to a friend today, we were discussing exercise ….. When at school / college we took regular exercise and went to several discos a week….we do love dancing …. Since then we only really do walking as our exercise …. We are not the sort to go to the gym. We both have very active lifestyles but do not partake in particular exercising …..like I say ….mainly walking. Do you exercise regularly ? What is your favourite exercise ?

I’ve been regularly walking on a treadmill lately, and it’s helped me lose quite a bit over the past several months. I’m really happy with the results, especially after reaching a healthy weight that makes me feel lighter and more energetic, as shown by improved glucose levels, blood pressure, and other health markers. Walking is such a great form of exercise—it just takes consistency and regularity to make it work.

@Traceyjayne I read that legs are like the second heart of our body, helping circulate blood through the lower half. If they aren’t exercised properly, the upper body can also become weak. That’s why keeping the lower half healthy is key to maintaining a strong upper body.

@traceyjayne I was never sporty, hated it, till I was 34 and discovered swimming. Loved it so much I trained as a pool and beach life guard. This required a high level of fitness. During all that we hired pools to do the training but now that that’s over I’ve stopped swimming because public pools are too crowded. Now, in retirement, I walk briskly most days and do light stretching exercises to remind fit and bendy.

I'm like you and walk a lot staying busy with this, that and the other. I used to enjoy lifting weights and wouldn't mind getting back into that, but not going to a gym to do it.

Because of my back and neck injuries, my surgeon has told me I’m allowed to get in a pool or walk. I do not have access to a pool so I walk. Unfortunately, I can’t walk far due to the myriad of health problems I have. So, I just walk the dog. When I was younger, I’d walk through neighborhood after neighborhood, and end up carrying my dog home because I walked so much. Those days are long gone now.

I don’t exercise as much as I should. Going on hikes or just walks at a park is my favorite but being in Florida it’s not always the best weather to go. So I go to the gym and I love the treadmill with a water massage after.
