New Family Member.

A week or two ago, she-child brought a kitten up to the house. We had seen her lurking around the yard for a couple of days but had no idea where she came from. She ended up giving her a bath, discovering she was a girl, and bringing her inside because the weather was taking a turn for the worse. We had asked a couple we’re friends with if they wanted her, and they originally agreed to take her. Since we have two dogs, I wasn’t entirely sure how they were going to feel about suddenly having a tiny feline roommate. Unfortunately, their oldest ended up in the ER, so they’re no longer able to take her. So here we are… with a cat. And honestly, I think we’re going to end up keeping her. (As if we had a choice. Apparently, the cat distribution system has spoken. ) She-child had been going back and forth trying to decide on a name, and then I told her I thought she looked more like a Salem. You know, Salem from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. So Salem it is. Officially. I didn’t want to share her until I knew whether or not we were actually going to keep her. We have no idea where she came from. We’re on 400 acres, and even though there are houses all the way around us, I still have no clue where this little girl wandered in from. But wherever she came from, she’s found her forever home now. So everyone, meet Salem! Apparently, we were chosen. We just weren’t consulted.
