Bike Leans - Shotgun Willies

One day a couple years ago, I was fed up with, well, everything, so I took my mountain bike, Agent Orange, out for a leisurely ride around town, taking bike lean photos. It was great for my mental health. I tried to steer Orange away from this place, but he insisted on scoping out the parking lot. This photo is of Agent Orange leaning on the Shotgun Willie’s sign in Glendale, Colorado.
Glendale is a small city (population 4,613 as of 2020) surrounded entirely by the city of Denver. It’s mostly apartments and bars - I’m not sure about now, but at one time, I know Glendale had the most bars per-capita in the Denver Metro Area.
One of those bars, Shotgun Willie’s, has been going strong since forever. Shotgun’s, as it’s affectionately called, at one time was a country music bar, featuring live bands. In 1982, it morphed into a Gentlemen’s Club, and is now not only Denver’s premier adult entertainment club, but one of the nation’s finest!
(Fun Fact: I spent $300 in there one Saturday afternoon. We only went in to spend twenty bucks we'd found in the arena parking lot after an Avalanche game, just riding our bikes around.
)
I’m guessing that the club was named after Willie Nelson’s 1973 album, Shotgun Willie. The album reached #41 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, and featured appearances by Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, Larry Gatlin, and on the song “So Much to Do,” a string arrangement by the late, great Donny Hathaway.

A “gentleman’s club.” How euphemistic. It’s like that term “disorderly house” for bordellos back in the 19th and early 20th century.

@teamfreak16 — yeah, sure, right.
There’s a “gentleman’s club” I pass that has a sign out right now that says, “Show us your Tito’s.”
It wouldn’t exist for long, but it’d be funny to get into sh*tkicker territory and open a gay bar named “Shotgun Willie’s.”

@FourWalls - Yeah, they'd drive that place out of town.

That is a nice sounding song.
I do believe that you had quite an interesting time, when you went on your bike.
Many of us need such "Breaks" at times.
Was Willie Nelson a famous singer during the 70s?

Yes, and then some. He's still famous. He's what we would call a National Treasure. Like Stevie Wonder.

We've lost a few here in Denver, but there are still a few going strong.
