Another item I got in the auction was a Singer vintage sewing machine. It's a portable model and was one of 3 that I bid on. I also bid on a newer model of a Brother sewing machine compared to the Singer machine, but it is still vintage (ha!).
I only bid on this machine because there was only one other bid on it. I put in a bid of $12.50 and won.
The auctioneer stated that all of the sewing machines listed were not tested, but you were welcome to test it out before paying and reject the machine if you were not happy. So I had a bit of a safeguard there. I figure if I get $50 for it, I'll be doing good!
I tested this one out and it worked like a dream. I was lucky that it was threaded top and bottom because I forgot to bring thread. I did have a microfiber cleaning cloth in my car so that is what I tested it on.
It also had the original instruction booklet with it. I may play around with this one for a while and then send it on to the flea market.
I dropped out of bidding for the Brother sewing machine because it was going back and forth. I am happy that someone else got it that really wanted it.
Are you still using a vintage sewing machine? Models are upgraded several times a year and it is hard to keep up with them--just like cell phones!!

Wow, that is so cool! No, I’m afraid I haven’t touched a sewing machine since home economics class in the 7th grade.

I tried to sew years ago for my girls when they were young. But I think after my car wreck and brain injury that it affected the way I comprehended those patterns. The directions were not simple to me at all and I gave up. Now I will focus on doing repairs

It's cute! My mom had one of those really old black metal ones that had the foot pedal. It had a light in it, too.

@AliCanary Yes! Mine was willed to me by by grandmother. I wish I would have gotten some of her furniture! My aunt and uncle got all of that since they had moved in to help care for her. They were the only ones left in the area.

@kareng so did my mom. My sister took it for sentimental value. She doesn't sew, but it looks pretty in her house and reminds us of Mom.

No I'm not. I don't really know how to sew and use a machine.
I'm glad you got he singer one. My mom bought one before and we had it in our house till my grandmother took it and gave it to my aunt. We weren't happy about it because it was our mom's.

My mom had a vintage Singer and when she no longer used it turned it into a table,

Really cool
I let Yvonne read the post and she said she would have bought it to at that price.
You should make some profit if you sell it
