Got two new staff when I arrived at work yesterday. A male and a female.
Was quietly observing the two as they were being trained by their supervisors. Their superiors were trying to help them a bit.
The male seemed to be doing pretty well in his assigned work. The female one? She seemed lost.
Couldn't help myself so I told her exactly what she was supposed to do thinking she might just be able to get it since it was her first day.
4pm came and she still just stood there. Not moving, Not doing anything.
5pm. She was sent home with her salary for the day and was told never to come back again.

@toniganzon As an employer, I understand your point. You don’t want to hire someone who could become a liability in the future, especially if you’re later required to make them permanent employees who may not be productive for the business.

@rsa101 Exactly and every centavo counts when you're a business owner. We simply don't want to waste our time on those who are present only to get their salary but so inefficient.

We can immediately see when a person actually wants to work or only wants to receive a salary.

@toniganzon That’s extremely disappointing.

I don't think she was intimidated at all. She's just one of those people who want to earn but doesn't want to actually work.

@AmbiePam And they don't think they could be easily replaced.

Yes, and we didn't want to waste our money as well to employees like her.

Sad that some people think they can get a paycheck for doing nothing but show up.

Exactly. When she was hired she was told that the moment she couldn't handle or fulfill any tasks, she should immediately leave coz we don't want to waster our money and time to employees who are there only to receive a paycheck.

I think some people hope others will do their job and let them get paid for it.

@toniganzon We had one that kept saying she didn't understand how to do her job so several of us showed her... After that, none of us would show her because she kept telling our boss that nobody would show her what was expected. I said she was dumb as a box of rocks and my boss came and told me not to say that aqain or she'd have to write me up. I asked why they kept the woman and she said they were working on firing her but it took a few days.

How odd. I wonder if she is on some sort of public assistance that requires her to work every so often. Or maybe she has trouble focusing?

Or maybe she's just one of those lazy people who show up and expects to get paid for not doing their job.
