Miners aren't the only FIFO workers

I wrote about our fly in fly out (FIFO) workers. While most work in the mining sector, I read today about a group of DJs who also fly in fly out to regional centres on weekends and help the locals enjoy some music and entertainment.
My niece is an audiologist and she also runs a clinic in an outback town once every few months. She flies in and stays in a cabin at the caravan park, goes to work each day in the town then flies home at the end of the week. No doubt there are a lot of health professionals who do much the same. I know Vince’s doctor has his own plane and flies every Friday to a drug rehabilitation centre.
The photo is mine of the typical terrain in the mining areas.

Wow! Sounds interesting! They must be meeting new people and get new experiences on their work..Vince's doctor must be really rich to own a plane. I assume that he has a private plane.

@JudyEv Here people take to the streets if there isn’t a hospital, school, opticians, dentist, cinema, pub etc at the corner of their street. The cry “ridiculous” goes up when anyone is inconvenienced and has to walk further than they can spit. Imagine the reaction if they were told they’d have to wait till the dentist 100 miles away flew in! Our nearest dentist in Malawi was 250 miles away.

I should have done that when I was a DJ!

@JudyEv - I was never remotely big enough to do that. I was just the overnight guy.

it is interesting that workers in mining industry get high salary, but sometimes we forget that their job is risky and not for daily commuters

When they are at work, they work very long hours and yes, it can be risky.

I can't imagine doing the same. Flying frequently I shout something I don't want to do.
