Bike Leans - Public Art Mural

It all makes sense now. There are art murals all along the Cherry Creek Trail that runs through the Denver, Colorado Metro Area. Denver Public Art says that if you walk or ride your bike for an 11-mile stretch, you’ll see 48 murals on the walls. That’s my gravel bike, Agent Gravel, leaning up against one. (There are a few sculptures included in that 48 count, as well.) Many of the murals have been around for quite a while, some are from last year. I know this because last September, on one of our Sunday Project Hero rides, we rode past a string of artists painting murals. Now I know why! They were painting murals for an event called Wall Fest 2025. The idea behind Wall Fest was to celebrate local talent while creating a visual experience along the path. Spray paint art, brush art, people, animals, nature, it’s all on display on the trail. There’s still a lot of room on those walls, though. And Denver can never have enough public art. Nothing has been announced, but here’s hoping for Wall Fest 2026! Link is to a local news story about Wall Fest 2025:

That is nice that there's a wall fest. I remember painted walls done by students in our city. They were nice.

I didn't know that's why they were painting until I looked it up.

It would be fascinating to watch them at work. I used to love watching Rolf Harris (persona non grata, I know) painting with huge brushes and splashing on the paint. It wouldn't look like anything but then he'd turn it upside down and suddenly there's this brilliant artwork.

@teamfreak16 My mind boggles that they make it look so simple. I wouldn't have an iceberg's hope in Hell of doing something like that.

I like watching those artists. Jumping up and down, looking like they're just making a mess. And like you said, brilliant!

@JudyEv - I know. There's a guy here in Denver that's really good at it. My mind was blown watching him at a festival one day.

The dog with the real long nose is so cute! (The one near Agent Gravel’s front tire, above the witch with the wart.) I love the way they embrace public art like that!!

I got to take a good look at it once I stopped. I didn't realize how intricate it actually is when riding past.
