So this agency that does exit polling I have worked for several times contacted me again to work the midterms. I will undoubtedly need the money, but working the general election was horrible and I was exhausted. I am not used to being on my feet for hours upon hours. Although they pay exremely well, I told them I would not be interested in the working the general election again, not as an outside poller anyway. They have a vote counting job too, which is just essentially doing some tracking and calling in the precint vote at the end of the night. I might be persuaded to do that, depending on the payment.although that is a hassle too. I can't count that fast with multiple vote sheets thrown at me.but the other thing NO..too many bad experiences with the weather..and just the length of the day. The midterms are going to be a zoo too no doubt..as most people know how vital this election is. I don't want to discuss politics here we all have our opinions..Probably not interested in working as an inside poll worker either for the county It is a very long day, Have you ever worked an election?

No, I haven’t. And, given the political climate these days, I wouldn’t even think about it.

Interestingly, people at the polls are very well behaved in this country. Republicans and Democrats mix together with no real issues. People in rural areas tend to be more laid back and neighborly. At the last election the police may have done a drive thru once, but of course there was nothing going on.

@snowy22315 I don't blame you for turning down. Leave it for the younger crowd. Your back and aching bones will thank you for it!

@kareng I don't get aches and pains, but exhausted..yes Ma'am! Besides that it is aggravating you have to go over all of those questionnaires with the phone people and that takes forever.

That kind of thing hasn't been a problem.

I did that county poll work once, but it wasn't in this country. The day is just too long, and it doesn't pay enough.

It isn't worth killing yourself for a few dollars. One year I was lucky I didn't get pneumonia no outside exit polling especially when the polls are going to be jam packed.

@Rimps85 That is another part of it, you kind of have to go where they tell you. I have never been able to work at my home precinct.

The outside exit polling is the worst, because you are outside all damn day, and the weather is not cooperative. You do get long breaks when you call in your results..but it isn't enough.
