Bad Police Work

I read/watch a lot of true crime. (I am a Scorpio and they are supposed to be good detectives.) I have been obsessed with serial killers for decades. What makes them the way they are and delving into the psychopathic mind. It is fascinating.
In the old days I could understand it. No protocols had been set up to keep the crime scene clean and not contaminated. But now it is just shoddy police work. All the forensic materials are very delicate and need to be handled that way.
Lately there have been several murder stories in the news that reek of bad police work. No suspects, bad murder scene methods, bad police work. The O.J. Simpson cases looms above all else. The Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case is one. Blood on the porch that was taken for her own blood and not analyzed immediately just to name one item. The sheriff is getting a lot of bad press over his way of covering it all. Then there is the Jon Bonet Ramsey case. The family called over friends to the scene before the police even got there.
The list goes on and on. I think I would be suing the police force. It is someone's life we are talking about. The scene needs to be handled correctly.
What are your thoughts on this issue?

Just now
Small towns have less experience with it than bigger areas so more easily mess things up. And you can't control what the people do before the police are called
