Fat Marmot Week

And now you want to know what are marmots and why they are called fat. Well, I discovered this today that starting with Monday scientists will be trying for donations to keep up the research on these rodents. Unfortunately, according to statistics marmots living in the Colorado mountains had two-thirds of one population of them die because of insuffiencient snow cover so another reason to dislike climate change.
Now about marmots, they are cat-sized, furry ground squirrels living in burrows in North America, Europe, and Asia. Among their relatives are groundhogs.
If you get a chance to travel to the Rocky Mountains you get to see plenty of these adorable yellow-bellied marmots and since they’re not shy they’ve become popular with hikers.
