Dolly Parton has died. I really didn’t want anyone bumping Neil Sedaka out of the #1 list of “top” ten music losses for the year. Sorry, Neil, you’re down to #2 now. There are no words. The woman was an amazing talent in every way imaginable. She sang, she played a dozen different instruments, and she acted. Most of all, she lived her faith. Dolly gave untold millions of dollars everywhere it was needed. For instance, when Gatlinburg was ravaged by a wildfire in 2016, she made sure EVERY employee of her Dollywood enterprises got a paycheck AND gave them extra money to help rebuild. She gave a million dollars to covid vaccine research. And, of course, the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, that puts books in the hands of kids who don’t have access to public libraries. There’s a legacy of music, laughter, and generosity that this incredible lady leaves us. Dolly Rebecca Parton was 80. My favorite Dolly song, “Coat of Many Colors”:

Yes it is, in every way imaginable. She was such a bright shining light in music and in life. How many other people would enter a Dolly Parton look-alike drag contest and LOSE.
