Would you like to hear some great news surrounding the death of Dolly Parton? Yes, as sad as we all are, there is something good that has happened.
The Imagination Library website crashed in the immediate aftermath of her death, because fans were flocking there to donate money in her memory to the cause closest to her heart.
Parton said that she was devoted to it because her father, although a smart man, couldn’t read. She said she felt that single fact held him back from what he could do. So, in tribute to her dad, she founded the Imagination Library in 1995 to help give books to children, especially in poverty-stricken areas and regions with no libraries.
No charge to the kids. They got an age-appropriate book every month until they started school, then they got a “graduation” letter from Dolly, telling them to keep on reading now that there were starting school and had more access to reading material. The Imagination Library is in primarily English-speaking free nations: the US, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
When browsing the “recent donations” page on the website, I noticed a lot of donations in the amounts of $31 (or £31) in honor of the 31 years the program has been in existence; and, in the amount of $80/£80 for the 80 years of Dolly’s life.
Dolly once said, “I’d rather be remembered for books than looks.” It appears that she’s getting her wish.

That is a good thing. Our group leader has a "God Bless Johnny Cash" and a "God Bless Hank Williams" sticker on his truck. He just ordered five "God Bless Dolly Parton" stickers. He's going to give me one. I'll put it on my record cubes with the rest of my stickers.

Dolly said in lieu of flowers she wanted people to make donations to the Imagination Library. And apparently people listened!
Oh, additionally, all the flowers that have been left at her statue in Sevierville are being repurposed, too, and the balloons are being given to the kids at the children’s hospital that bears Dolly’s name.

She really have a great and big heart. Most of the influencers now showing off their achievements and bad attitude as they use their platform to take pride of what is bad... There are a few who would truly embrace goodness than looks and being so proud in a very bad way and yet they think that is cool.
I hope her legacy will still continue and keep helping others especially kids that will lead them to do good and know the truth from bad and false doing and behavior.

She easily could have been a billionaire, but she gave away hundreds of millions. My favorite story is when she gave the Dollywood employees affected by the wildfire $10,000 each to help while they were sorting out insurance claims.

That's awesome to hear! Although I always admired Dolly, I didn't know much about her or the causes she stood for. It's great that something good can come out of a bad situation. I think she is one of those few people in the world who was universally loved by all.

She did so much “behind the scenes” that the stories were only reported by the beneficiaries. For instance, she never called a press conference to say what she was doing, but it was told by the people who got the help that Dolly donated the royalties she made from Whitney Houston’s recording of “I Will Always Love You” to the black neighborhoods in Nashville. No fanfare, no “look at me,” just doing what the Bible said to do. She easily could have been a billionaire, except for all the money she gave away. What a woman.

They were hurting in a lot of places for money because government funding in America was cut. Prayerfully they don’t have to worry about that for a while.

I have been in love with reading and with books since I was very, very young. My kids love reading, too. I hope her library legacy lives on forever!
