One thing I absolutely love about my son is how unique he is. I love that he can be such an old soul. He'll be turning 16 in a couple of months, and I decided his sweet 16 is going to be a Rat Pack party. My son loves Dean Martin and his music and movies. We plan to do a kind of casino-type backdrop with card games and decorations, no actual gambling, of course. We'll pull out our record player and play some Sammy, Frank, and Dean. I'm currently compiling ideas. My son is excited that he gets to wear a fedora. I love that I get to do fun parties for him that I can relate to. I personally am not a huge fan of gambling or card games, but I love the vibes of the Rat Pack (yes, I'm aware the original Rat Pack was more than just Sammy, Frank, Dean, and Joey). My son is excited about the idea. I love that my kid has so many interests that make him so fun and interesting to talk to.
Some of my son's favorite things are Japan, any of the wars, video games, especially retro games, almost anything history-related, I Love Lucy, Doris Day, Dean Martin, music (he loves most music), computers, and he's currently teaching himself Morse code. He is probably one of the most well-rounded individuals I know with the perfect mix of new and old. He is funny, kind, and smart. He is literally one of my favorite people to talk to because he's always teaching me something new. He loves learning random things. He loves hearing me talk about my childhood, and he loves hearing my parents talk about theirs. He's had a rough go of it this year, but he keeps his smile plastered on his face. I absolutely adore this kid, and he makes things entertaining. He will forever be my favorite human. I love any chance I get to celebrate him and make his day, because he makes my day every single day just by being him.

Thank you. He has a lot of friends and usually hands out between 20 and 50 invites depending on the year, and every year we have close to 10 kids show up. He isn't popular, but he does have a lot of friends. It will be interesting to see how many he hands out this year.

That is so cool. My grandson is and old soul too. I enjoy spending time with him. I'm sure your son will have a great birthday bash.

Thank you. I always get sad when I hear people don't feel the same way about their children. I know some kids are difficult, but there is usually a reason. My mom has always been proud of her kids, even of the one she maybe shouldn't be so proud of, but she chooses to ignore all of the bad and focus on our better qualities, even when the bad ones are REALLY bad.

..Your son sounds like such a cool kid.
an old soul with that perfect mix of retro charm and random interests is honestly rare. The Rat Pack party idea is perfect for him, and I love that you get to celebrate someone who clearly makes every day better just by being himself...nice one
