Finding some joy

I know this week is probably going to bring more stress, but I took joy in today. As I have mentioned, I have been enjoying the small in-between moments where I get to think less about everything going on in my life and just enjoy the little things. Today my husband and I took a drive. We always do drives out in the country, and we love checking out small nearby towns we may not have thought about and see what they have to offer. We have found a lot of cool places by simply wandering places we have never thought much about before. Today we found a really cool thrift store that sold holiday decor and random items. I'm on the lookout for Indiana Jones items for my son's costume this year. I found an Indiana Jones hat today, new with tags, at Goodwill. I have been on the lookout for more costume items I can use. I am also looking for Vegas or Rat Pack items for my son's birthday party. I love thrift shopping. I don't like spending a ton of money on things and always try to save where I can. I also love things they no longer make. I always get excited when I see things from my childhood. I also love buying DVDs and books secondhand. I like having physical copies of things. My husband and I found some nice new spots we enjoyed. We took our son last weekend to a Civil War museum; we found a Chinese buffet that had a lot of options for my husband, who can't have a ton of carbs; and we then went and got Toft's ice cream and were able to get my husband no-added-sugar ice cream. We didn't do a lot, but we were able to enjoy a nice day out. We haven't had many of those in a while. I have been enjoying moments when and where I can get them. Work can be stressful, but I've found myself laughing at the randomness. Last week, most of my days were spent taking kids to the bathroom. We had one child pull their pants down and make it halfway down the hallway before I was able to get them to pull them back up. Another kid was crying, so I went to check on them, and their butt was stuck out of the stall. I am like, I swear this is one of the only grades you see this kind of insanity. The same child from the stall incident was crying in PE, complaining that they broke their leg as they were still running. We were like, for some reason, we think you're fine. I always say I couldn't do my job if I didn't have a sense of humor. The littles and their chaos are going to be keeping me busy, and I think that's what I need.
