Laundry: When did you start doing your own?

Most of you (who at least read my stuff) know that we have two kids: an almost 19-year-old and a 13½-year-old.
I know that when I was 13, I was doing my own laundry—and I even got paid to do my grandparents’ laundry.
Do you think our kids do theirs?
**NOPE. ??**
The 13-year-old will do it occasionally, but she usually doesn't do all of it. She'll start a load and forget about it, or she'll get it into the dryer and then make me fold it.
Honestly, I don't think the almost 19-year-old has ever done his own laundry.
So, myLot land, here's my question: **When did you start doing your own laundry? And when did you make your kids start doing theirs?**

Let’s put it this way—I don’t remember a time that I didn’t either help with laundry or do laundry. Your kiddos are way past the age that they need to give you a break. Put two containers of some sort in each of their bedrooms. One for dirty and one for clean. If they don’t show up to take the blotches out of the dryer, don’t fold them. Dump them in their rooms in the clean clothes container. Everyone needs to do their own. You do tons for them. I understand wanting to help them but one is nearly out of the nest and the other growing up quickly. It’s time for mom to do less.

Nah. That might work for you. But I’d rather it get done and get it done right.
I’ll complain about it but I’ll keep doing it.
He child will not do it right and then be mad something’s ruined. But I don’t think it would work the way you think it will.

I wanted my kids to know how to do laundry and how to prepare some meals. When they went away to college, they always came home with stories about how friends at school had never even washed a load of clothes,dried,or folded them. They had no idea what to do. Many of them had never cooked a single meal except possibly nuking something or making popcorn. I felt like they shouldn’t rely on others to do those things so I tried to teach them basics.

@MarieCoyle Again. What worked for your kids worked for you. They learn at different ages. She child is great at helping in the kitchen and has helped me make things from scratch multiple times. He child has no interest. Why would I force it on him?

Well see we should of started making the boy child do his own earlier in life. Now he thinks hes a big grown adult, but he still has to have people do his laundry.
Maybe thats more a male thing then it is his age. lol

@teamfreak16 yeah I know some guys do Chris would probably do it if I let him . But he doesn’t weird and it takes forever to do it.

Like I said, she child will help sometimes, but she doesn’t like folding it which I can’t blame her cause I don’t really like folding it
