Society, pushed by the retail sector, seem to want to push forward to the next season quicker than necessary sometimes. Today we were finishing up early at our son's place, as he wanted to take them to an indoor trampoline park. I suggested that I would have time to bake a pumpkin loaf, and my husband sprang to his feet to get on our way. My son came over beside me and asked me if I would bake him one. Well, of course I will I told him. I do very little for him and his wife. His wife doesn't like pumpkin loaf, so I will suggest that my husband brings her a bouquet of flowers on the girl's first day of school, as Mama, I know how that will help her heart and leave her with a sweet memory. The girls were quick to ask me if I would make them each a pumpkin muffin. Willow even went so far as to remind me that she likes the blue foil best, I have a multi-coloured package of muffin cups. So, there are 2 muffins and 2 pumpkin loaves cooling on the racks on the counter. Is it too soon to be enjoying pumpkin bread? I had a can of pumpkin that I bought last year and it needed to be used up before it expires.

The girls know that you are not going to say "no" to any of their request. They want their individual pumpkin muffins. Pumpkins are not yet on the shelves here.

I use canned puree pumpkin for the recipe, and the expiration date was nearing, so thought I should use it up. Waste not want not.

@Juliaacv - I remember you told me last year that canned puree pumpkin is available there. I am keeping an eye on a pumpkin patch grown outside a private garden. I could pick up one during my walk.

@Juliaacv I always have a can of pumpkin puree handy too. I haven't thought about making pumpkin loaf or muffins yet but it's coming soon

@Juliaacv At Halloween people buy fake pumpkins that light up We used to use hollowed out Turnips I've never seen Pumpkin on foot or drink But I have never looked

We don't have pumpkin products here either. I'm used to members here talking bout all the pumpkin goodies but it's not an Australian thing. We have pumpkin soup and baked pumpkin but rarely cakes, pies, biscuits, etc.

At this time of the year I did wonder. I mean there is an actual apple season, but no real season for using apples in baking, same with lemons and many other fruits and vegetables.

I had to use up this can of pumpkin before it expired. There is another one in the pantry that needs to be baked up but I have more time on that.

Since Halloween is around two months away as of today, in my view it is too early to enjoy pumpkin bread.

I love pumpkin loaf any time of the year also, but I never make it other than late summer, autumn and early winter.

I can almost smell that delicious pumpkin load baking and how cute that the girls had a preference for the color of the foil for their muffins. You really do think of the nicest things to do for people and the flowers for your DIL will certainly make the girls first day of school less sad. The very first day really is bittersweet Funny that I wrote my post this morning about pumpkin stuff

We do like it quite a bit. I omitted the cinnamon from the recipe as my DIL dislikes it, and if she tries a slice of it I don't want her to dislike it due to that.
