The Older We Get, The More Maintenance We Need

Remember when you were 20 and you could just hop out of bed and go to work (or college) and be gone all day and then just fall into bed at night? I started making a list of all the "maintenance" items I had to do now at 61. I gave up after it got too long. It included: 1. wear teeth retainer while sleeping each night 2. use CPAP while sleeping each night 3. Take morning pills 4. Take evening pills 5. Apply lotion to legs 6. Wear compression socks all day 7. Apply knee pain cream 8. Moisturize face morning and night I stopped there. Obviously there's brushing teeth, showering, etc. As you can tell, I'm not liking being old.

Honestly, you are not that old. Thinking that you are is probably one of the reasons you suffer so. Mind over matter. I know I am old, but I don't think about it very often. There are people who are alot older, and I am just a youngster compared to them, and so you are..you are quite a bit younger than I am.

I’m thankful. Yeah, I have to take those pills; however, I take fewer pills all day (one in the morning, four at lunch, one at night) than some people half my age have to take in one sitting, which they repeat 3-4 times a day! I don’t moisturize the face…no use in putting lipstick on a pig. I usually have the Biofreeze or Icy Hot standing by, just in case, and usually once a week I don’t leave home unless I’m wrapped in lidocaine patches. I saw video of John Williams conducting the Imperial March at a salute to him the other night. He’s 94, in a wheelchair, and he didn’t really look like he knew where he was. No, I’ll take my little aches and pains instead.

I don’t remember just hopping out of bed, but I’m certain I did. I imagine I had a lot more get up and go before my car accident.

Who wants to get old? But anyway lets just try to maximize the youth we still got inside of us.

Getting older definitely comes with its challenges, but I am glad to still be here.

I don't care for it either. But the alternative is a bit uncertain.

You are not old, you are just adjusting to health issues. I have been doing half of your list since I was 16 years old. The rest of the list is not something that I have to adhere to.

The Older We Get, The More Maintenance We Need Probably. The only thing I have to do is take pain killers I'm just not as mobile as i once was
