I was dancing with female friends in a club, when a man suddenly started dancing with me. I felt uncomfortable and excused myself to go to a table where a male student of mine was.
The man grabbed my arm and said he still wanted to dance with me, but I said I was already tired. He followed me to the table still dancing when I was completely ignoring him already.
My student told him off and he left.
Why was it difficult for him to understand the word "no?" Was my body language showing the opposite?

You're beautiful and he obviously hoped you'd keep dancing with him. I'm sorry he ruined part of your evening. Some people don't have a clue.

I guess some people just aren’t sensitive enough to pick up on cues. Maybe he was hoping you’d engage with her and get to know you better. Anyway, it’s a good thing you had company to look out for you and give the guy a hint that you weren’t alone there.

@toniganzon You know how men can be—they’ll push for what they want unless someone is there to back you up, which you have, so I guess that guy got the message, hehe.

I said no and even stopped dancing. That should have been clear enough that I wasn't interested in engaging at all.
