yesterday, I revisited a piece of my life i thought was lost. / myLot

It's 7:57 AM and I'm still on my bed. It's 24°C , low of 22°C expected, high of 31°C. Probably another hot one. Lately, mornings have been rough. I toss, turn, almost wishing the night wouldn't end. But yesterday was special. I spent time with my mom and scrolled through my younger sister's phone. I had no idea she's been backing up our family photos for nearly 18 years. There were pictures of me and my siblings, ones I thought were gone forever. Looking through them felt like opening a box of lost memories. Of course, there are lots of embarrassing ones too..awkward smiles, funny hairstyles

, silly expressions. The grandchildren crowded around too, giggling at pictures of their parents when they were little. Just one of those simple moments that remind you how valuable old photos really are...Sometimes the pictures we think are gone forever are being treasured by someone else, quietly keeping those memories safe for the whole family. Honestly, I'm glad my younger sister kept them all these years because for a little while yesterday, it felt like we got to revisit a piece of our life we thought was lost. I ended the day with tapioca and akara before heading home. I hope today goes well for everyone. Stay safe, and don't forget to make memories you'll enjoy looking back on years from now.

A few years ago I gathered pictures from all of our family and spent a year making disks for everyone with all the photos separated by family. I made folders for each of my brothers and sisters, and one folder with dad and one folder with mom in them. Every picture that had one of our family in it, I put that picture into their folder. Below each brother, I made folders for each of their kids and so on. To find pictures of my daughter, you'd first go to the folder with my name on it and open it then find the folder inside my folder with Pretty's name on it. Sometimes I had to ask who the people in the photos were if they were kids from so long ago that I couldn't recognize them... In the end, everybody had pictures of the entire family on one disk per family... I still have the master disk in a folder on my laptop. I keep moving the master file in case anybody needs a replacement disk. You might consider doing that for your family, too. Everybody was so happy that I'd taken the time and made the effort to do that.

That's such a thoughtful gift, everybody probably still has those disks somewhere. Sorting through old photos and asking who's who in em sounds like a lot of work but so worth it. Might actually try that with my own family pics one day.

@Wrexxo It is worth it, in my opinion. I haven't keep up adding our new photos to the master copy but I have everything on my phone SD card so could update the disk one of these days after I'm not having trouble thinking again.
