Living in a retirement village, it is inevitable that from time to time someone will pass away. Yesterday we attended the funeral of one of our villages. We didn’t know him well but Vince had arranged a slideshow of his life for the widow and also took photos at the funeral and the wake.
Bill was a Scotsman and his last two wishes for a pipe band at his funeral and a ‘proper’ Scottish wake. He was persuaded to have a lone piper because a full Scottish band in a chapel would be deafening. It was also nice that the piper was once a resident in our village. After the service, the wake was held back at the clubhouse. Bill would have been very happy with his wake.

Sounds like a nice wake. I love bagpipes.

It sounds like Bill got exactly the kind of send-off he wanted. The lone piper must have been a beautiful touch, especially knowing the piper had once lived in the village too. And it sounds like the wake really did honour his Scottish spirit
