Yesterday, I was invited as a jury member to adjudge top 3 innovative ideas/concepts/prototypes in the field of Sports Management that can go to pre-incubation with a national level incubator. The winning team would get mentorship, infrastructure support and government funds, in their journey to become a successful startup. I was amazed to see such fabulous ideas from the college kids, and had to evaluate them along with other jury members. Even though, the concepts were unique, the basic fallacy in them was that it never got ratified with the target audience & hence, I told the students - although ideas generate from personal problems/struggles, it might not have commercial value. What is your problem, might not be others. I had to take some harsh decision in denying few teams to go to the next level, but then rejection is a way of learning. I am sure, they will work on the feedback given and come back strong in the next season.
