My Little Red Dog

I was not different from other children, and above all, I wanted a pet. Well, we always live in apartments in New York City, so my mom was always against having any kind of a pet. Even though I was an only child and a pet wouldn’t be too much of a burden, both my mom and dad worked, and it would have been difficult for my nanny and later my grandma to handle a small child and a dog on a leash. Well, there was also the possibility of a cat, but my mom had the horrors of me perhaps mixing my hands into the cat litter out of curiosity or something like that. Plus she knew the cat fur would cause more vacuuming. So the rule was no pets. To make me happier, my parents bought me this plastic red dog on four yellow wheels. To this day I have no idea where they found this toy, but I loved it, and after that I didn’t go anywhere without that red dog. It sat in my lap no matter how dirty the wheels were and always would be rolling behind me everywhere I went. I loved that dog, and now I wish I could remember what I called it and what happened to it. The closest photo to what I had I found online

This made me smile, kids really do find a way to make anything their own pet lol. That little red dog probably felt more real to you than any actual dog would of. Wish you could remember its name too, that's the part that gets me.

It’s amazing what we form an attachment to, but it certainly makes sense.

The plastic dog on four wheels is the closest way to enjoy having a pet.

Parents only want nothing but to give happiness to their kids. It was the most they could do at that time given the circumstance.

Willow and Harper each have a pull along wooden dog toy. And they still have them out, and I have seen them play with them. Sadly, tomorrow, their doggy, Ellie, will make her final trip to the vet-we are all so broken hearted over it, but it is the humane thing to do, as she is suffering.

Under the circumstances, that was the best 'pet' for you to have.
