One of my favorite Denver bike shops, Mojo Wheels, has a mural of the Statue of Liberty painted on the side of the building. That’s my gravel bike, Agent Gravel, with it.
Speaking of the Statue of Liberty, last year, the Denver suburb of Aurora (the largest suburb in the Denver Metro Area) got an interesting sculpture, a reimagining of Lady Liberty, made by Belgian artist Michael Benisty.
The statue, called “Liberty,” debuted at Burning Man, where it was seen by Aurora Highlands CEO Carla Ferreria, who brought Liberty to Aurora, where it was placed in Hogan Park, a 100-acre park dedicated to public art (the park includes a 2-mile art walk.) The statue was transported in two pieces, in two trucks, to the park.
According to Ferreria, the park and neighborhood will be built around Liberty for the next ten years.
Personally, I think it’s a pretty cool statue. This park is really far from me, and I’m not sure how to get there, but I need to figure out a way to go check it out. After all, I need a bike photo.
Link is to a Denver newscast piece about the statue, which gets a lot of screen time:

I like it. It reminds me of the end of Planet of the Apes.
